An Hour Well Spent

Once in a while, not often mind you, but just enough to keep me wishing for more; one or both of my granddaughters will call.

This week, it was our youngest. She is four and a half, and oh so proud to be! It was her day home from preschool, and she called just to “chat” and tell me of all that is going on in her world. We talked for a while, catching up on such important things as how her kittens are doing, and how my cats are, as well.

We covered the all-important subject of her Grandoc, and what he’s been up to these days. . . She giggle and laughed as she reminded me that when we come up next time, Grandoc must take us all to the Dairy Queen for ice-cream! It doesn’t matter if it is January and below zero weather, the Grandoc is the best ice-cream man around.

Then she said she sure wished we could just, “Run over for a few minutes and pick her up so she could come spend the night. . .” Oh, how I wish we could too!

Sometimes I wish we lived just down the street, but then again, maybe not! Ha!

Amidst giggles and laughter about preschool fun, the best snacks she’s had this week, and why does the sky turn black at night, we shared our lives. We talked and talked, for right at an hour.

Finally, when all subjects of importance, for now at least, had concluded, she said in her sweetest little girl voice, “Grandi, I’m tired now, can we stop all this talking so I can go watch a movie?”

Laughing silently to myself, I knew that she had no idea how she wrung my heartstrings by the very fact that she had bothered to call at all. Who knows, perhaps one day she too will have a beautiful, precocious, funny little grand-girl, or boy, who will want to call and talk a while.

Perhaps she will get to smile silently on her end of the phone when it’s time to go, as she realizes that this was the one hour, all week long, that was time truly well spent.

Just sending a Godly shout out to you. Bless The Lord. It’s a pleasure chatting with another author. I just published, my first ever, a book entitle: “Why are Things The Way They are and Not Otherwise? By TL Phillips This piece of work is inspirational as well as about life. God gave me the writings. Tried to end it at the seven chapter but he kept on giving me more, so I added another chapter. Anyway, the book is small in statue, but big in interest. Praise God. Anyway, you have a great day and a better one tomorrow. Your brother in the Lord. Thurman with lsol.
