I Love Thee Autumn

Welcome autumn, and to September my old friend,
yours is the signal that summer nears an end.
The leaves are slightly turning, a few are in my path,
reminding me that summer has yet to have her final laugh.

Ah September, let me open wide my arms of love,
and sing to you a melody that comes from up above.
I invite you in as I yearn for cool days and cooler nights,
that are the harbinger of autumn’s delights.

You make me feel like a child again,
as I skip along and sing with a silly grin.
Oh, I know that the colds winds will blow,
and winter soon will usher in the snow.

But for now, I shall pretend,
that autumn is here and summer soon will end.
We shall linger as long as we may,
and abide together for another day.

I love thee autumn, what can I say?
There is no other who makes me feel this way.
Cling close to me and fill my heart,
until that day when we must part.
