It Is Well With My Soul

Change. . . I am the first to admit that I really do not like change! In fact, sometimes I literally hate it. For goodness sake, I have had the same set of luggage for nearly fifteen years. . .

Of course, my husband would differ with me ~ and often does! He says that I must enjoy change because I change my FaceBook pictures so often! But, the fact remains, he is living proof that I truly do not like change ~ I’ve yet to change him out for anyone else in over 40 years! So there you go!

On a more serious note, as I grow and mature in the Lord daily, I am trying to learn to relax, and enjoy the changes that life continually brings my way. However, in my humanness, this is not always easy.

As we wait for our house to sell here in North Georgia, and are packing for the day that will eventually come, it feels less and less like home. When we stay in hotels wherever Jim’s work takes him, while it can be enjoyable and even relaxing, it is certainly not home. And even when we go to the little place on the mountain in Arkansas, as much as I love being there, it does not yet feel like home. Now lest you think I’m foolish, I am aware that this world is full of change. I constantly see and feel changes on every front. Some of them are very good changes, some are more difficult to accept.

More and more, I am reminded that this world is NOT my home; that we are only passing through.

And so, today I was praying and seeking the Lord’s face. In my prayers, I asked the Lord why I am being tested in this manner; why change seems to throw me into such a tizzy. Now, you should know that I didn’t see a burning bush, I didn’t see walls come tumbling down, nor did I see a lion with his hungry mouth closed. But, I did feel a gentle peace steal over my soul.

As this peace settled into my heart, I found that I could say, “It is well with my soul.”
