Preheat Oven to 425

Put ½ cup of butter in a biscuit pan (or baking dish) and melt in oven – remove before it browns.

Use Self Rising Flour – measure 4 cups of flour into large bowl and make well in middle of flour.

Liquid Ingredients

One egg beaten (or two if small)

¼ cup of oil or melted butter

1 tbsp sugar

1 tsp vinegar

¼ tsp salt (may use less)

Milk (to equal 2 cups when mixed with above liquid items)

Dump liquid mix into flour well.  Stir until all flour is mixed in. This will be a wet dough.  Let sit while you flour (generously) the counter.  Pour the dough out on the flour base.  Add more flour on top and pat until it is flat enough to cut with a biscuit cutter.

You can also add cheese, or cooked sausage or any kind of precooked meat to make a savory.  Or, add an extra egg,  dried fruit, a bit of cream, and have a scone!

Cut out biscuits and lift carefully with spatula and place in cooking pan – flip once to coat with melted butter.  (You can also drop these from a spoon if you desire – they will have a difference appearance).

When pan is filled with biscuits, place in oven and bake for 20 to 30 minutes – until a rich golden brown.

Biscuits should be light and flaky when done.   Enjoy!
